Chief Johnny O. Scott was born and reared in the Magnolia Community. He graduated from South Pike High School in 1981. In 1983, he graduated from Southwest Community College with a degree in Law Enforcement, and in 1985, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Criminal Justice. He started his Criminal Justice career in 1985 with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. He was hired as a DUI Officer and lead the Department in DUI arrest and participated in a number of DUI safety awareness programs. In 1989, he moved to the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) where he worked as a Correctional Field Officer. In 1994, he joined the 22nd District Attorney’s Office as a Criminal Investigator until he began employment with Sheriff Cotton. He has enjoyed a 33-year career in the Criminal Justice field. Chief Scott enjoys serving the public in the capacity of Chief Deputy. He enjoys working with the youth and has sat on a number of boards.
Chief Scott has been married to Felicia Scott for 24 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Time with his family and loved ones is very important to the Chief. He also enjoys hunting, golf, reading, and music. His faith is very important to him. He desires to live his life in a way that honors God and serves his fellow man.
